This was inspired by a recent conversation with my husband, wherein I promised him, yet again, I would never inflict any sort of ‘jello salad’ on him. The poor man had childhood traumas we will not speak of.
“How much do you love me?” He challenged her, gripping his spoon with an odd intensity.
“I love you enough to never again make my award-winning Ambrosia of the Seas Salad.” She stared up into his eyes, her full lips parted in breathless anticipation of his answer. “Lemon jello, slices of citrus, onion, mayonnaise, brined octopus tentacles…”
His gaze was unyielding as the spoon began to bend in his hand. “Never?”
“Never.” She gulped. “I love you! Isn’t that enough?”
His spoon clattered to the table as he swept her into his arms and demonstrated his feelings on the matter.
Uh oh! Left me wondering what his feelings were and how they were made manifest. Urp!
