It's not a 100% thing, but peppermint oil-- ok, in our case it's a mad mixture of extracts for peppermint, lavender, lemon grass, a bit of clove, and who knows what else sounded nice, with vodka or everclear in a cleaning squirt bottle-- had about a 95% reduction in spider type crawlies, and a reduction in mice. It's based off of the "chemical free" tick and flea spray for dogs, but DO NOT USE ON CATS, especially with the lemongrass extract.
...but it smells really nice with the lemon and lavender to cut the impact of the peppermint.
We've lived in the same house since 2003. My oldest child was 12 when we moved here. The house never got any bigger - and we never got a shed - even as the children got more numerous and bigger.
Sometimes they leave and come back. We got Thor back during Covid, when his landlord sold the rental house and put the tenants out on the curb. He was like an apex predator moving into an unstable ecosystem. "I think the other four could move back into one room, and I could have my old room back." "Oh, you're just so funny. Put your bed in the room with Vlad and Epic, and make sure you're lights-out-sound-off by 10:00."
It really would. I'm currently planning to set something up outside, but that will be less than ideal in the dead of winter. There's also the utility room sink, which is fully functional, just across the garage from the workshop.

I have so many sons and no outbuildings.
You understand why I was so excited!
I would be, too ... and maybe it wouldn't work out the way I wanted. My husband is a musician, and I so wish we had an soundproof outbuilding for him.
I can imagine that would be very useful. When we bought, my son was 16, we didn’t expect him to go off on his own so soon. Life changes fast.

I wonder if any of the potentially water pipes can contribute to a sink type place which would be handy.

Nice!
