Artfully: Day 15
Halfway through my challenge to create new art every day in December. I will come back to the bunny vs. dragon story, but I'm still working on the second challenge that's been meshed with the first. In order to learn the new camera better, I was challenged to work in RAW format, and use only one lens setting at a time. Today was 24 mm.
Today was also a serious sit-at-my-desk day, I was trying to lay down 7K words. Of course, as ever when I push, things happen and plans change. I have about 4K written. I'll make 5K by bedtime. I had a sticky bridge, so to speak, and I think I've maneuvered my hero over that and into more action (I hate writing not-action).
In addition to this, I'd been asked to make a cake. This is an old family recipe of the First Reader, and it's sort of a cross between fruitcake and jam cake. Incredibly dense and sweet, it's a project to put together, and that's what I chose to photograph today, from beginning to end.
Gosh, that's a lot of words for an art blog. I'm sorry, my fingers are kind of in that mode.
Still Life: Apples and Teapot
Stripes on this apple almost look like paint strokes.
Butter and sugar
Eggs, with a luminous quality
Spices were shot at 55mm. I wanted a close-up :)
Jam Cake Batter: most unbeautiful. Those are chopped prunes you see lurking.
Hot Cocoa. Just because.
Finished cake isn't beautiful, but it will be yummy.
