Bubbles
I am planning another book set Underhill. I've even written the opening scenes for it, and have a title, The East Witch. I will start working on it once I wrap Tanager's Fledglings up. I'm also doing something a bit different for it. The main characters will not be Lom and Bella, but one of her Alaskan cousins (albeit a distant one) and a central plot point will be her travels Underhill. For those that have read my series, you know that I created the idea of transport bubbles. So as I'm thinking through the cover for this book, I've been creating bubbles in Apophysis which will later be elements on that cover. You're likely to see them very small, and half-hidden.
Here they are, all big and beautiful. I've really been having fun with this program, and I'm beginning to look forward to writing the book when I can use the mental images this art comes from.
This one has a lot of tiny elements inside it. Which won't show well at a small size, but I like the layers of bubbles.
And this one has a lovely opalescent color, and it looks like it's cracking open, revealing something in the center.
This one has some of the oily iridescence I associate with soap bubbles.
I probably won't use this one on the cover. It's got a lot going on. Although it would make a cool eye.
