Dragon Month: Finale!
Finishing up my dragon paintings
I made it! I got all the way through the month of August painting a dragon every single day. This was a stretch for me, but it feels good to have accomplished it. I’ll still be doing daily art in September1, but likely not quite this intensely! I was working on putting together the dragon paintings for show at P-Con in Dallas this September, and I will finish up with matting them2 soon so I’m ready for that convention. It’s a thrill to be Artist GoH and I wanted to bring something special to show off my skills.
There’s a lid on the water jar, because otherwise Toast will drink out of it. Also, if I don’t watch her, she’ll lick the paint!
The dragon musical notes is the only piece I did this month in just ink.
This is one of the oddly-sized pieces, and the paper buckled. I plan to show it, but not place it for sale.
Even the bad days deserve their due.
I’ve worn glasses since I was 14 years old. Who knows how old this fellow is!
I’m really pleased with how the clouds and colors turned out here.
Well, this could go either way. I think I’d back away slowly…
A holograph? In watercolor? Um! Well, it is kind of glowy looking.
The colors are blending in the next generation!
I sat down and made a video showing all 31 paintings. Plus, Toast helped with that too. She’s such a good art studio helper!
Tell me in the comments if you want me to do posts like this for September’s botanical art.
Most of them, a couple of the paintings are odd sizes and may be displayed without matting for easy framing.

Yes, absolutely make posts for your September work. I was considering trying to follow along as well, though I know from Inktober each year I usually don't get everything done. We'll see if I can keep up.
The lid on the water jar; I puzzled over it for at least a minute ( Solvent? Malodorous somethingorother? Volatile ? Why with watercolor? ) -before reading the 'neath the photo. ;-)
OK I've punned before & I will again; too bad the month didn't drag on.
