Finished work
I wound up painting two Hello Kitty Sugar Skulls for the presentation today. I wrote a short story a while back, about a young chicana girl who is confronted with what it will take to keep her job in a terrible economy, and I'm using it as my class presentation for Latin Literature in the Americas. But the professor wanted something colorful, and tangible, for the presentation today, so in a fit of playfullness (why yes, I am a but nuts, thanks for noticing) I created these…
Oh, and the story Sugar Skull will be published sometime later this month. Without this art, I hasten to add.
This one came out rather stiff, as I sketched it with pencil before painting.
Now, this one I painted for fun, no sketches first. I'm much happier with the way it came out, slightly asymmetrical, and minimal color.
