I have friends who live in tiny apartments in japan. they managed to store an enormous amount of personal belongings in such tiny spaces and it always amazes me but they have three things that they do religiously. one of them is zero clutter, everything has a place to be and when you take it from its place you do not put it down until you put it back down in its place. this is difficult to do in a 2000 square foot house but it's not so bad to do in a 60 square foot room. the second thing is clutter which falls in the category of hair, food particles, cigarette Ash, pocket lint. this is dealt with daily and/or as it occurs, and the third is sanitation, every surface must be disinfected and this seems to happen once a week. this seems like a lot of aggravation but when you're living in a space that you can stretch out your arms and touch everything it's not as daunting as it might be otherwise.

I often have dreams of living like this, but I have accumulated such a massive collection of personal belongings that I am happy just to be able to maintain that level of cleanliness inside my gun safe.
