As I’m working hard on the next book in the Tanager series, I thought I’d run a giveaway on the entry point to it. Tanager’s Fledglings is standalone, but Jade Star gives the backstory for a character who returns again and again in the series.
Besides which, Jade is one of my favorite characters, and that’s saying something with as many worlds as I dream up. She came into being when I and other writing friends were talking about fierce old ladies in fiction, and why there aren’t more of them. I sat down and wrote Jade, in response to that conversation.
If you liked the Christmas story last week, this is in the same universe, but much earlier.
