I was telling my mother that I’d gotten a whole bag full of cookbooks at the library book sale, and she suggested I do an unboxing video with them.
There was a great mix of books in there, from vintage to homemade to the expected fad diet books (but not too many of those!). I had fun doing it.
Unexpectedly, there was treasure!
Some of the books from the haul!
A look inside the Jones family cookbook.
the treasure! A handwritten recipe on the back of an old church program.
Bonus, a look inside the cooking school book I picked up at the sale. This wasn’t in the bag but it’s noteworthy.
How is that for homework? And yes, I did this, although it was a homeschool project called ‘learning to cook.’ It still stands me in good stead to this day, and obliquely, led to the making of this video as I increase my book collection.
That's awesome.
When my parents were remodeling the house in the late '70s they found an old cookbook. I had it for many years, but it seems to have vanished in the move to the new house.
I have an original "Searchlight" cookbook from the 40's, and a reprint of the Fanny Farmer Cookbook (18-something), they are both marvelous.
