N'Inktober: Week 2

Not to jinx myself, but while some Octobers have been chaotic wild with the art challenge on top of everything else, this one seems to be allowing me time for creativity at least so far. I'm pretty happy with most of my output. If you're seeing this before the explanatory post last week, check out the prompts that started this all, they are a ton of fun to work off of. 

Vivid Prophetic

It's easy to see something in the crystal ball if you know you can make it happen, yes? This was one of those prompts that initially had me thinking... it's all intangible. How do I draw that? 

Castle Beauty

I knew I wanted to do a really nice castle - in this case, the reference photos were of Romanian castles, but not the most famous one - and a dragon. The rest of it just followed. It's all digital, but I'm using a really nice brushset that mimics inks. 

Roast Awe

The prompts were two randomized columns of words, so sometimes what comes up is a little bit of an odd phrasing, since English has rules for it's descriptors. In this case, though, it was perfectly obvious what I should do with it. 

Succulent Mushrooming

I love mushrooms, and foraging, so it seemed appropriate this prompt fell on my birthday. I am very happy with how it came out, and it will be an illustration in the upcoming cookbook. 

Exuberant Books

Exuberant, by definition, isn't just the buoyant mood. It's also a descriptor of growth. Trees grow books! 

Ocean Hair

I had initially thought when I got to this prompt, I'd draw a mermaid to go along with surfing Poseidon (see last week's art). Then I decided what I wanted to do was convey something a little more nebulous and evocative. Again, I'm very happy with how this came out. 

Limitless Rigatoni

I don't remember which of my fans put rigatoni in the prompt list... but this was so fun to do. Sheer silliness and trying to draw all the rigatonis with perspective was a challenge!
