Odd Prompts: Snip
This isn't anything just yet. Maybe later it will become more.

“Who did this?” He gently picked up one of the tiny birds.
“I have no idea. I haven’t seen anyone down there.”
He put it back in her hand and looked around. The world was washed clean of the summer’s dust by the rain. Autumn had come late, but it was here, and the crisp air was tempting. “Let’s go for a walk. See if we can figure out who your friend is.”
“Oh, I don’t know.” She wrinkled her nose up at him, smiling with that impish quirk he’d been looking forward to all those months. “Maybe it’s fairies and they don’t want to be seen.”
“Then let’s go be seen, together.”
“I do want to show you my special place. You probably know it from when you were a boy, though.”
“I’ll have forgotten. Anyway, if I see it through your eyes it will be fresh and new again.”
She sighed. “I have to start dinner. And I don’t think Eloise will be happy if she’s not milked on time.”
John started shaking his head. “As much as I find the idea of being a full time farmer alluring, given...” He didn’t finish that thought. They’d talked it through the night before. “I can’t and right now, we’ve been given the gift of time. Time, and swans.” He cupped his hands around hers, both of them holding the little leaf birds. “Let’s go for a walk.”
