I've been thinking of the stories (adventure stories, specifically) that I enjoyed when I was young, and planning a riff off of one or more of those. If it's something that you enjoyed, others probably will, too -- and people don't change in fundamentals, really. There are story ideas that will always be interesting to children.
I immediately fell into the story, and could see the world as I read it. Thank you for the cookie!
Very good. I love the level of detail here, and I admired Lanre's patience with Bil.
I'm pounding my brain to come up with a story idea that would be good for boys, but have not thought of one as yet.
Then write one for girls! Girl books without all the pink and ruffles and romance are needed, too.

Is Ade heavily terraformed, or a galactic coincidence? (Hey, we saw it on Star Trek a couple of times)
Some of both. It was already leaning in this continental area towards Africa, and the colony added to that with influences from Texas/Great Plains.
