The Days you Don't write about
As a writer, there are parts of my character's lives I just skip over. I want to focus on the changes, the action, the crises and triumphs. The days of waiting, or just plugging along doing the work you need to do in order to make your goals come a day closer. Those are the days you don't write about. There's a trick to that, skipping forward in time and pretending that the slow days just didn't happen. Our heroes never have those off days where the stew of work, anxiety, and anticipation of what needs to be done for tomorrow adds up into an unappetizing mess.
Life isn't as easy as a book, though. Reality is that you have to live through the days one at a time, skipping ahead just doesn't work. Of course, if you want to add some spice to your life, Nanny Ogg's Cookbook is on sale, at the very least it will make you laugh.
