Three Moms of the Apocalypse
It's going to be a busy day. I have a lot scheduled, from a visit to the Farmer's Market to recording a podcast episode, to a business meeting down in the city, to supper with friends to round it all off tonight. And then again tomorrow I'll be experimenting with food again...
The experimentation isn't just with food. Although I have to ask: how does the idea of a loaf of bread with dark rye, a tablespoonful of baking cocoa, caraway seeds, and a pinch of cardamom sound? Oh, and it's a sourdough loaf. I've planned an 18 hour cold ferment, then it'll proof for a couple of hours before a dutch oven bake. We shall see how it turns out! Tonight's supper entrée is planned to be German influenced, and I volunteered a side (with green, she said) and bread. Hence the trip to the farmer's market, as well.
Right. That's not what I meant to talk about there. The other experiment is a spin off of Live! From the Blanket Fort! which appears on the Old NFO channel over at Youtube under Bored Yet? It's a rowdy livestream twice a week, Tuesday at noon, and Thursday at 3 pm Central. I'm usually there, just off camera, on Thursdays. The rotating peanut gallery includes most of the North Texas Troublemakers although usually not all at once.
A while back Lawdog dubbed Jonna Hayden, Kortnee (who writes as CV Walter) and myself the Three Moms of the Apocalypse. And that led to the BroadCast. Just us broads, sitting in the comfy seats, chatting about the world and all it's issues, while cracking jokes that would make the grown men blush (we know, we've done it) and solving the problems of the universe with a bit of spit and a hankie. As moms do.
The first episode is out, after a short soundcheck, and now we are trying to get a couple more episodes recorded and scheduled. You see, the three of us are rarely in one place at the same time. It makes this interesting. Since we've now got a mammoth calendar up on the wall of the Blanket Fort (Jonna's shop) to track book releases for all the NTTM, cons we are separately and severally attending, and various other events like dinners, podcasts and... there will be more. I know there will be more! It's a chaotic colorful spaghetti tangle of fun. This year is going to be a good year.
So! Every Wednesday evening, look for a new episode of the BroadCast. We're planning to do livestreams monthly (or so) and to have on guests to chat with us. I am looking forward to seeing how this evolves as we get it up and running.
