Tricksy Portrait
The First Reader is not quite sure how to react to Father's Day. He has no children-of-the-blood, but he has stood in loco parentis to children over the years, and feels like he has been a grandfather to more than a few. Now, with the Junior Mad Scientist and Little Man under his roof, he had forgotten about Father's Day (he will send his own father a card, but not call as his Dad is very deaf). So when we surprised him with a little early celebration, it was an unexpected moment.
From the Little Man (who is nearly as tall as the First Reader) he received the computer game Fallout 76. From the four legged child in his life, he received a portrait of herself.
I helped a little. The gifted Anita C Young was doing pet portrait commissions recently, and I had taken a picture of Tricksy years ago that I really love. It's not the perfect shot technically, but it captures the spirit of the pup. She's a goofy girl!
As you can see, pictures of Tricksy are not easy. She just soaks up the light. But Anita captured her beautifully! You should really go look at the timelapse of her drawing, it's fun to see the pupper take shape on the page. Also it's a delight to watch a talented artist at work.

Thank you, Anita, for helping make our day special!
