In general, it seems to me that any attempt to ban the use of specific tools for specific artistic purposes is simply futile and short sighted. If a tool exists and is not outright banned from all uses, some artists WILL use it.

Whether the output constitutes GOOD art, is a whole other story. ;)

And I must strongly concur with you, that any tool which puts the creation of art into the hands of the 'little people' is a bloody good thing for the human race. And those who think to control what we should think/believe/create can just go off to a corner and traject a aerial intercorse at a rotating fried pastry!

When the flush of a new-born sun fell first on Eden's green and gold,

Our father Adam sat under the Tree and scratched with a stick in the mould;

And the first rude sketch that the world had seen was joy to his mighty heart,

Till the Devil whispered behind the leaves, "It's pretty, but is it Art?"

Now, if we could win to the Eden Tree where the Four Great Rivers flow,

And the Wreath of Eve is red on the turf as she left it long ago,

And if we could come when the sentry slept and softly scurry through,

By the favour of God we might know as much -- as our father Adam knew!

These are beautiful images,. I don't see how anyone could argue that they could exist without work, thought and creativity. I certainly think they qualify as art.
