Cucumber Salad was in Mom's refrigerator throughout the summer. When we ate down enough, she'd just add in more cucumbers and sliced onions. I keep it in my refrigerator now.

Back when I could eat potatoes, hot German potato salad was my favorite. Cold was good, but hot was better. That Avocado Potato Salad sounds interesting. I'd substitute pureed avocado for the mayonnaise, not being a fan.

Wish I could be there, but I'll have to settle for my own German cooking.

We love a cucumber salad. And you remind me to buy some - we thought we would take a long trip, but that got cancelled, so I need to buy more veggies again!

Prayers from here for you and Rodney. Let us know if there is anything you need.

That first recipe makes me homesick for grandma. Also refreshing in the summer (and makes a great burger or hot dog topper) German Cole slaw.

I'm not a fan of potato salad, but if I absolutely have to have it, I pick the vinegar/oil German potato salad. Growing up we went to quite a few outdoor family gatherings during the summer and both kinds were typically brought. The mayo version usually had to be thrown out if not eaten within an hour or so while the vinegar/oil version was good all day. My family usually sliced the potatoes rather than cubed them, and green onions were prominent.

Can you share the preceding page in Lin Meier cookbook so that I may prepare the potatoes as in No 6? My mother came over from Germany but didn’t do a lot of german recipes. I would get German style food when I was out in a community German band. Would like to try some different potato recipes. Thanks.

How old is the Lina Meier book?

Originally published in 1909, I have a sixth edition from 1944. Which had to have been a difficult time to publish a German cookbook.
