Cedar ... if you're flying North to Great Lakes, I'd recommend casual dinner at Kaiser's, donuts at CJ's in Zion and breakfast at Emily's. I've worked down the street as a Range Officer and these are all good neighborhood places.
I am! My son wants to get a Chicago-style pizza, and a root beer float. Which is a funny combination, and I'm pretty sure we'll have to go to more than one place to get them! We will have other meals, though, so thank you!
Kaiser's has good pizza ... the double being a version of Chicago style. So that's an option. Culver's Food and Custard - lots of locations - is a Wisconsin company with locations down the road from Great Lakes. It's not bad. If you end up as far North as Milwaukee, Kopps is a must. Fabulous custard, good floats.
I won't fly these days because of a) TSA theater harrassment, and b) it's a crap shoot, safety-wise (various reasons). Hang in there. Practice your frozen stare (a la Miss Manners), and get to the airport early as possible. If you have time to burn you'll be more relaxed, and if somebody messes with you you'll have time to pull the "I'd like to see a supervisor" card.
Fortunately the current plan is to get to O’Hare for the trip home incredibly early as I’ll be meeting up with my son while he waits on his flight to CT.
Leaving from Itchy Paw Falls was great. Tiny airport for the win!
I've even been sexually harassed by TSA at O'Hare. Large black lady that wanted a kiss because of the "mistletoe" stuck in my Cowboy hat for Christmas. (it was holly, she was dumb as a bag of hammers) We laughed it off, and it is to this day a running joke with the wife and I (Yes, she did it in full view of my wife, children and grandkids!) I guess I didn't really consider it S.H. but it fits by today's standards.
As to artists... OK, I'll play, the two that are the furthest apart I can think of. Rembrandt, and Picasso.
You've made some good plans. And much like any other travel in "dangerous" places, use the self-defense modes. Stay alert, look and move confident, use the "mother look" if needed. If you've ever taken a self-defense class, keep those things in mind, too.
Work on strongly projecting a "F with me and I'll bite your legs off" look. Those are highly effective. You got this! Enjoy the trip!

Cheers to you. I know your son will be very glad to see you.

I hope you have safe and uneventful travel, and an enjoyable visit.
On the artist side, how about these: Raphael, and (representing the Pre-Raphaelites) Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
Thank you! It’s at the bottom of the post now.
It's very good.

NICE

Yes, with the exception of having to exercise restraint and not react in kind when hands are laid on me. That's... difficult.
A friend has a saying, which I will be keeping in mind today: "It's a good day. No one is shooting at me."
I wonder if a bite of a good, strong, smelly cheese as you approach "security" and non stop talking at them might keep the evils at arm's length.
Gustave Moreau has been gone over a century. Paired with?
