The trials and tribulations of home ownership! Fortunately, we got our roof replaced and no longer deal with leaks during heavy rain. Flooding in the yard is another matter. Hang in there!
You can borrow my jackhammer Cedar but you gotta come get it.
&/but yes, the gutters and rain barrels seem like a far better plan than 15,000 miles driving (2 round trips, one to borrow it 'nother to return it.). ;-)
Oh, I love my house. The garage footings are concrete, so there's no wet wood here. I think some of the concrete off the corner of it was an afterthought and not planned for wet weather. Because Texas!
The recent stormy weather broke our mailbox, a roof turbine, the chimney cap, and one branch on our big junk tree. But hallway down the block that way (pointing) a 50 foot tree decided to kill my neighbors' new Mazda Minivan. About the same distance over there (again pointing but a different direction), three neighbors lost fencing and a garden shed. We were blessed to avoid the most serious.. Total damage was less than our deductible... And I have the mailbox fixed with a schedule for the roof turbine and promises to do estimates for the other work. Yes, we love Texas. Have lived many places in the US and overseas and visited many, many more. not from here; but never want to leave.
You should be able to rent a jackhammer reasonably. They were fun to run — when I was younger and stronger. :)
I’ve noticed that IBC totes really vary in price and availability- hope you can get them reasonably! I wonder if you could just get a big water tank / how the price compares per gallon to IBCs.
I want some of those food-grade liquid totes to make a water tower, but they're so expensive here in the PNW! Trying to find one within reasonable distance for less than $150 is almost impossible.

I mean, I do badly want to see family... but Tok is a long way from anywhere all by itself.
And I've got to have more water, if I want to garden in most years here. This year is weird.
Texas houses are the best because Texas.

They have gone up, as they get more popular. :/
