Interesting, and it was new to me completely. We are hoping the electrician can make sense of it and get the new wiring in with an outlet.
I honestly don't know what the wiring for a dishwasher should look like, so who knows if that is right - and I cannot get it further out. May have to wait on the pros next week for that one.
We had a similar "fun time" with a twenty-year-old dishwasher, Ms. Cedar. I don't know what it is with the folks they hire for appliance installation and that insane urge to experiment with wiring and pipes. 🤦♂️
I am really trying to avoid having to do that! It doesn't sound like any fun at all to me. Fortunately, it looks like the floor under both range cabinet (which I demo'd last night) and dishwasher is solid. That was my last unknown.
I had to do it because the previous owner had just completely ruined the kitchen and made an utter mess of it. They were somebody who obviously never cooked.
But once it was done it was soooo much nicer. Been tempted to make a change to the kitchen where I am now, to make it a bit more open, but definitely don't want to do the work myself this time.
Oh, yes, homeowners who don't cook make such poor decisions. Even my kitchen isn't laid out like I could do it in the same space. I have seen some horrors while house shopping. One lovely old home I really wanted... until I walked into the tiny kitchen with doors in three walls, and two windows over an old steam radiator on the fourth. NO counterspace. Shame. That house had character and a huge mature grape arbor in the backyard.
A prayer for your project: Godspeed.
Thank you. The first stage went well. We have an outlet for the new range.
I've never seen the stove wired in directly like that before outside of a commercial kitchen.

Many's the time I measured twice and cut once, to find I should have measured thrice. As you say, adapt. Me, I cuss a wee bit and then adapt. ;-)
I mutter imprecations. Ok, sometimes I cuss, but rarely. Has more impact that way :D
Which works for me because I'm the short fluffy mothery type.

If your phone bill shows a call to Sarah, Indy may have been a consultant. Be afraid. 😏😸😸😸

Good luck to you all.
My last house I completely gutted and remodeled the kitchen. Boy that was fun! :-P
