I have things that I own, small and inconsequential things when you take everything into account, that remind me of times long ago. Hard times. Trying times - difficult times.
Life is very much full of those times and those moments. The little reminders that you can get past the hard times, that (like the song says) you will survive, you will get by. That all things must pass, and you need to celebrate getting through the hard times, and remember with fondness the good times and people.
I don't take a lot of food pictures, but every now and then some pop up and I can picture the meal and the participants vividly. And then I think about what has happened for all of us between then and now. Sometimes I'm amazed we're still alive, and other times I'm happy for the experiences.
The photos remind me of the four years Oye and I spent in Korea. They were busy times, but so rewarding. And the food was awesome. Thai, Brazilian, awesome Korean of course. Lots of fond memories. Sitting in my wife's office after school, after the end of the duty day, me grading homework and she on paperwork. Far from home, once more, but new family around us. 🙂 Thanks for sharing, Ms. Cedar.
Speaking of degrees, it's warmed up to -26° F. right here right now.
Also speaking of degrees, you getting yours at 40, you beat me, I got mine when I was 48.
My daughter was having trouble with calculus and was ready to throw in the towel. So! I told her I'd race her & see who graduated first. I had two accredited years under my belt when I dropped out in the late fifties. Twix then and '86 though not matriculating, I'd night coursed and correspondence coursed enough to have adequate transferable credits, slip back in & with a few more courses to graduate.
Bottom line; I had a lot of fun and, as I remember I beat her by a week or so (Different universities, different graduation dates.) and yes, she got her civil engineering degree, PE licensed and is living happily ever after, more or less.

Oh, those mile markers along the roadside of life.

Watching you get your degree convinced me to go for mine. I'm not sure I ever told you that.
