"Their romance, marriage, and eventual parenthood are all large parts of the books ..." I'm thinking that Margery Allingham did something similar, culminating the Tiger in the Smoke. I remember greatly enjoying that series back in the day.
FYI ... at a local furniture store last night, looking at recliners for the den. What do I spy, but a first edition HC Nine Tailors! OMG. I hand it to the sales guy - really nice person, Chad - and tell him the store might want to do something explaining the value of what's sitting on the shelf as decoration. He tells me ... "Why don't you just take it. We won't care." meaning, they'd never do anything but put the book back on the shelf. We go back and forth a bit with me offering to pay for it or to bring in another book. the TL;DR version -- I have a new/old Sayers hardcover!!
I really like the Peter Shandy series. Actually, all of her stuff I’ve found enjoyable.
I have the first of those queued up on my TBR. I'm looking forward to it!
Don’t forget to leave herring in the window when you’re hubby goes out

She did indeed, and her books are old friends of mine.
